College Scene: Grindle moving up career lists at Owens (10-30-13) PDF Print E-mail

(Editor's Note: The College Scene updates the activities of athletes from Wood County high schools and county residents who are playing sports at the college level. It is published once a month and includes sports currently in season as well as any recent college signings, and honors or awards.

Jessica Grindle, from Northwood High School, is a sophomore on the women's soccer team at Owens Community College.
In 17 games this fall, Grindle has scored a team-high 19 goals and added five assists.
The 19 goals and 43 points this season are both third-most in a single season for the Express.
On the career lists: Grindle is tied for second with 25 goals; tied for sixth with eight assists; and is second with 58 points.
Grindle has played in 27 career games for the Express.

Andrea Alt, from Perrysburg High School, is a redshirt sophomore on the Bowling Green women's cross country team.
Alt was 22nd at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational, finishing in a personal-best 21:46.02 over the 6,000 meters.
Alt was second at the All-Ohio meet, finishing in 22:07.46, less than three seconds behind the winner.
Alt runs in the Mid-American Conference championship Saturday on BG's home course.
Shelby Antonacci, from Lake High School, is a freshman forward on the University of Toledo women's soccer team.
Antonacci has played in 16 of UT's 18 matches, making five starts. She has scored two goals this season.
Jeremy Ashley, from Perrysburg High School, is a junior on the Tiffin University men's soccer team.
Ashley has started all 14 games in goal for the Dragons, 10-2-2 overall. He has made 53 saves while allowing 11 goals (0.76 goals-against-average).
Derek Batt, from Bowling Green High School, is a redshirt sophomore linebacker on the University of Toledo football team.
Alyssa Beach, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman middle blocker on the University of Dayton volleyball team.
Baley Bernthisel, from Otsego High School, is a senior on the Ashland University volleyball team.
She has played in 14 matches and has 49 kills, 20 digs, and 20 block assists for the Eagles.
Kylee Bernthisel, from Otsego High School, is a sophomore on the Ashland University women's cross country team.
She finished 44th overall in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship meet in 24:14.6.
In the Division II/NAIA portion of the All-Ohio championships, Bernthisel was 18th in 24:24.73.
Jessica Borsani, a North Baltimore resident, is a junior setter on the Denison University volleyball team.
Through Denison's first 24 matches, Borsani has 533 assists and 214 digs.
Bailey BredenbeckCorp, from Perrysburg High School, is a senior on the Bellarmine volleyball team.
She has played in 19 matches, making 18 starts. She has 56 kills, 720 assists, 194 digs, and 15 aces.
Jordan Breitigam, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the Ohio Northern men's swimming and a diving team.
He won the 200 butterfly (1:59.28), and swam on the winning 200 medley relay team in ONU's win over John Carroll.
Andrea Brown, from Northwood High School, is a redshirt senior on the Lourdes College volleyball team.
Brown has played in 18 matches this season with 75 kills, 33 digs, 36 blocks, and seven aces.
Chloe Buehler, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman goalie on the Penn State women's soccer team.
Bailey Burk, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore on the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming team.
She lettered last season, swimming the 500 freestyle, and the 100 and 200 breast stroke.
Jacob Burk, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Baldwin Wallace College men's swimming team.
Burk won the 1,000 (10:17.39) and 500 (5:01.89) freestyles against Wilmington College, and won the 1,000 freestyle (10:22.46) against Ohio Wesleyan University.
Bryant Byrd, from Perrysburg High School, is a freshman on the Western Colorado University men's cross country team.
Michael Cavanaugh, from Otsego High School, is a senior on the Miami (Ohio) University men's swimming team.
Justin Christoff, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore offensive lineman on the Otterbein University football team.
Katie Cochrane, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Ohio Northern women's cross country team.
Julie Cross, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore goalkeeper on the Heidelberg College women's soccer team.
She has played a total of 123:57 minutes in four matches this fall, allowing five goals and making 11 saves.
Paige DeVriendt, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior with the Marietta College volleyball team.
She has played in 27 matches, recording 172 kills, 92 digs, and 25 blocks.
Lauren Diehl, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore on the women's golf team at Bowling Green State University.
Quinn Donaldson, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman wide receiver on the Johns Hopkins University football team.
He has played in five games and has four receptions.
Kaylee Draper, from Perrysburg high school, is a junior defender on the Bowling Green women's soccer team.
She has played in nine games, making six starts.
Kelsey Draper, from Perrysburg High School, is a junior midfielder on the Valparaiso University women's soccer team.
She is one of five players to start all 16 matches for the Crusaders.
Ashley Dunn, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the BGSU volleyball team.
Dunn is one of three Falcons to start all 22 matches this season. She leads the team with 373 digs.
Jordan Dunn, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the Northwood (Mich.) University volleyball team.
Through the first 22 matches this fall, Dunn has 882 assists, 239 digs, 54 kills, 25 aces and 21 blocks.
Rachael Dzierzak, a Perrysburg resident, is a sophomore on the Ohio State University swimming team.
Against Kenyon, Dzierzak won the 100 breast stroke (1:05.77). She was second in the same event against Kentucky, finishing in 1:05.30.
Sarah Fowler, from Otsego High School, is a sophomore on the women's soccer team at Trine University.
Miranda Garmenn, from Otsego High School, is a freshman on the West Liberty University volleyball team.
She has played in 20 matches and has 168 assists, 90 digs, and 10 aces.
Nolan Gill, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Ohio Northern men's reserve soccer team.
Michael Girona, from Otsego High School, is a freshman linebacker on the Defiance College football team.
Patrick Halleck, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the Trine University men's golf team.
Jacob Hankish, from Lake High School, is a freshman defensive lineman on the Heidelberg University football team.
Jonah Harter, from Otsego High School, is a junior kicker on the Siena Heights football team.
Cortney Haubert, a Bowling Green resident, is a freshman on the Ashland University women's cross country team.
Dylan Hirzel, from Lake High School, is a freshman on the University of Findlay football team.
Lindsay Hoffman, from Lake High School, is sophomore on the Trine University women's soccer team.
Ian Jacobs, from Perrysburg High School, is a junior midfielder on the Tiffin University men's soccer team.
Kelsey Lahey, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore outside hitter on the volleyball team at Marist University.
Lahey has played in 17 matches, making 10 starts, and has 155 kills, 25 digs, and 17 blocks.
Aricka LaVoy, from Eastwood High School, is a freshman on the Owens Community College volleyball team.
A defensive specialist, LaVoy has played in all 38 matches for the Express this fall and is third on the team with 265 digs.
Lindsey Lehman, from Otsego High School, is a junior on the Lourdes University women's golf team.
Lehman played eight rounds for Lourdes, and was fourth on the team with a 96.91 average.
She was seventh in the Lourdes Fall Finale with an 89.
Elizabeth Lemon, a Bowling Green resident, is a senior on the University of Toledo women's cross country team.
She ran a 19:35.2 at the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic.
A.C. Limes, from Otsego High School, is a freshman tight end on the University of Findlay football team.
Shayna Lindley, from Rossford High School, is a sophomore on the Lourdes College volleyball team.
