Al-Mar Lanes held its first window of qualifying for the annual youth Pepsi tournament.
Eleven boys and eight girls advanced to the district tournament.
The following boys with division and three-game series were 8-and-under: Jerrad Main, 310; 10-and-under: Thomas Rieman, 363; Logan Keller, 352; and Nico Calderon, 336; 12-and-under: Stephen DiCarlo, 410 and Mark Kolczynski, 409; 15-and- under, Anthony Haney, 510; Blayne Keller, 505; and Tyler Noon, 451; and 20-and-under: Jacob Spangenberg, 643 and Kyle Waynick, 602.
For the girls, advancing were 8-and-under: Savanah Garner, 174; 10-and-under: Jena Kirian, 362; 12-and- under Khloey Hutton, 438 and Quin Beeker, 404; 15-andunder: Cailyn Overhulse, 519 and Chloe Beeker, 471; 20-and-under, Gabriella Calderon, 535; and Cheyenne Kolczynski, 475.
The second chance to qualify will be held in December.
All of these bowlers will compete at the district level, with the top qualifiers there advancing to the state.
Benefit slated: Al-Mar Lanes will again hold a special benefit for breast cancer research.
The annual benefit is Nov. 10 with bowlers beginning at 11 a.m. A breakfast will be served at 10 a.m.
The entry fee is a minimum donation of $25 per person, with all proceeds donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The tourney has a no-tap format. The format credits bowlers with a strike for knocking down nine or 10 pins on the first ball.
In addition to the tourney, there will be jackpots, prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
Youth of the Week: Youth bowlers who bowled the most pins over their average in any one game last week, with pins over, were: Bantam/Prep, Lex Voska, 47; Justin Gentry, 46; Olethia Ketcham, 41; Kelly Miller, 39; Major/Junior, Anthony Haney, 59; Jacob Spangenberg, 47; Kyra Beeker, 22; Gabriella Calderon, 19.
Surviving the game: The six bowlers eliminated for Week 4 in Al-Mar‚Äôs ‚ÄúSurviving the Game‚ÄĚ with league and pins under average were: Brad Simon, American, 110; Bill Wammes, American, 76; Debbie Knowlton, Ladies Major, 75; Brent Norris, Eagles, 73; Gary Wachter, Eagles, 71; Dee Miller, Stadium View, 70.
