One of the things I learned while serving on Bowling Green Council was how important it was to listen to residents. It was important to return their phone calls and e-mails but a good councilperson actually seeks out opinions of all constituents, even those who would never bother to call their reps. There are two councilpersons on the ballot this Fall who stand out in my mind.
Sandy Rowland is everywhere, truly an ambassador for the city, showing up to neighborhood groups, festivals, picnics in the park. Regardless of whether you agree with her on every single issue, you can always count on Sandy to listen to your opinions and to work with city officials to solve your particular problem. And Rob Piasecki, who is new on council, has shown himself to be a hard worker and a quick study, someone who thinks for himself.
It's no surprise that the biggest component of Sandy and Rob's campaigns has been knocking on voters' doors. The energy that they show by nightly walking the city and talking to voters is a strong indication of the effort that they put into council. Please vote to keep these hard-working public servants on City Council.
