As an Ohio farmer, I am proud to be part of a 150 year family agricultural tradition that cares for the land and feeds your family and mine. I support state Issue 2 to create the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board because it protects our food safety, preserves Ohio farms, cares for the animals entrusted to us, and makes sure that decisions about Ohio agriculture are made by Ohioans and not by out of state special interest groups.
There are almost one million farm-related jobs in Ohio that contribute $93 billion to the state's bottom line each year.
Ohio's 75,000 family farms and food industry leaders like J.M. Smucker, Honeybaked Foods, Inc., Chiquita Brands International, and Bob Evans Farms help to make Ohio a leading agricultural producer in the U.S.
State Issue 2 has broad support among veterinarians, the farm community, grocers and restaurants, and is endorsed by Governor Strickland, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Wheat Grower's Association, County Commissioner's of Ohio, Ohio Corn Grower's Association, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and many others.
I will be going to the polls Nov. 3 to vote "yes" for Issue 2 to ensure the availability of safe, affordable Ohio-grown food through the continued excellent care of Ohio's farm animals. Join me and Vote Yes on State Issue 2 this November to preserve Ohio agriculture.
