Sandy Rowland is the epitome of what a leader should be. I am a second-year graduate student at BGSU and last year was my first year in Bowling Green as well as this side of the country. I moved here from the West Coast and without really knowing better, got myself into a pretty horrible living situation. I was trying to figure out how to get myself out of it, and without really having anywhere to turn, I discussed it with some local women I met at Grounds for Thought while knitting. Sandy did not hesitate to lend me a hand any way she could. She helped organize her friends to support me, get me moved out, welcomed me into her home, and gave me a place of storage and solace in a difficult time. I am truly thankful to her for her help. If only there were more people in this world, ready and willing to help people who need it. In Bowling Green we have a chance to have her as our City Council leader for another term, another thing I will be thankful for come election day.
