This National Volunteer Week, American Red Cross of Wood County is celebrating our dedicated volunteers and partners who help turn compassion into action.
In Wood County, our 30 Disaster Action Team volunteers are on call 24/7 (including holidays) to respond and assist families in the event of a disaster.
On average, we respond to one disaster every day in our Northwest Ohio region - in fact, every 19 hours we are reacting to help people in need.
These volunteers generously donate their time and energy - often in the middle of the night - to provide food, clothing, shelter, emotional support, and more.
Many offer to go across the nation to help with national disasters like Superstorm Sandy.
Red Cross volunteers also teach lifesaving skills such as first aid and CPR, help local military families exchange emergency messages with their loved ones, serve on our local board, organize blood drives, assist with office tasks, and more.
If you'd like to join our dedicated team of local volunteers, please give us a call at (419) 352-4575 or visit us online at redcross.org.
We thank our volunteers, our "Hometown Heroes", as well as the volunteers of so many other organizations here in Wood County.
Thank you for lifting up our community.
