To the Editor: Perrysburg residents say grinder pump system is far too expensive

This letter is in regards to the proposed grinder pump system to be installed for the Shelton Gardens and River Road area.
I am thoroughly opposed to this system. It is far too expensive for what we are getting and it is unfair to everyone in the area to be punished for the irresponsibility of two homes, which are known to the officials.
These people, when they built their homes, did not accept their responsibility to install a proper septic system. Instead, they flushed raw sewage into our creek creating a filthy, unsanitary mess. We who own property along the creek are assessed every two to three years to have the mess cleaned up and culprits walk free.
Now we, although not part of the original complaint, are being forced to become customers of Northwestern Water and Sewage and forced to pay an excoriate fee to have a sewage system installed we, the innocent, do not need and do not want.
We have done the math for this project and find it incorrectly figured. The cost is too high.
You are turning our neighborhood into a socialistic state, where the innocent are responsible for the care of the guilty.
Why doesn't the Health Department do their job and cure this filthy mess?
