I want to start out buy saying "Thank You" for your tremendous support the last few weeks and coming together as a community to keep Alicia's Voice going on for another year. Kathy Newlove and I have become very close in the past few years and I feel like she is my second mother. I promised her I would not let organization fail. As a victim of domestic abuse, I realize how horrific it can be to do this alone. When children are involved, it makes it even 10 times harder. I just ask that you please consider keeping the window open and donate when you can. I know it sounds like a lot of money but when you see how much Kathy does for women, children and men, you would understand.
I have an thank you I need to speak of and that goes to Otsego High School and their administration. My daughters have attended Otsego for four years now. We live in Bowling Green but I have been so impressed with the staff and how they have been with us, I am willing to take that time to drive them to another school. Kathy spoke to the high school children and then the next week it came out in the Tribune about her situation. The superintendent, staff and the children all immediately wanted to help her. They chose to take some proceeds from their Winter Homecoming and donate to her, they also set out boxes along the hallways to donate toiletry items for her to give victims because these are expensive and hard for us to pay for.
My two daughters and I have had a very bumpy road along the way with not just our personal affairs but medically too. We have had a few situations that needed attention immediately and the school is right on it. If I contact a teacher, I hear back from them immediately. This is something that has gone on throughout the entire time they have been going to Otsego. I just want to give a huge thank you to the superintendent, Mr. Koch; Mr. Haynes, Betsy, our blessing we want to bottle and take with us forever, Mrs. Asmus and all of the six grade staff. One more teacher who we know has her angel wings wrapped around us and helps us each day to get through the bumps, Mrs. Kendall.
I have one more benefit coming up that I am coordinating on March 21 at McDonald's on South Main Street from 4-7 p.m. If you consider putting a poster or flyers in your business, please call (419) 788-8672 for further information. Together, we can! Hopefully this will help get Alicia's Voice a little bit more, but do not forget the doors are always open and donations are always needed. Thank you again!
