I just saw the movie, Prisoners. Yikes! I am glad that I did not take anyone with me lest one should question my taste in movies.
Being lured in by the brilliant reviews and acting by Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaah, I was not disappointed. I do not know why I am attracted to these intense, on the edge of your seat, psychological dramas. I did not nod off or fall asleep once, however, I did inhale a Pumpkin Café Latte before purchasing my ticket. Perhaps, the caffeine helped me remain conscious along with the smart plot and clever directing.
Hint: Everything you see in this film is not the way it appears. I thought I had this mystery figured out from the get go, but I was wrong. This storyline took several twists and turns before coming to a conclusion. Warning: This drama is not for the light-headed or faint-hearted viewer as it can be disturbing and dark at times.
While you may not leave the theater whistling Dixie, instead, you just might want to hug your children a little tighter tonight.
So, if you can stomach this patron's review and still want to see this chilling new release, then go! You have my blessings. You will need them.
