To the Editor: Man questions $50,000 bonus for BGSU’s Mazey

An article in your paper recently referred to the top people at BGSU have predicted a loss of approximately $10 million in the next several years. They have decided they must cut expenses! However, it seems to me the first thing they did was to give the president a 2% raise and a $50,000 bonus. It may well be deserved but isn't that going the wrong way? Then the second thing they did was to decide to hire a firm to come in and show them what they're doing wrong - at a cost of half a million dollars. Isn't this defeating their purpose. I know it's not their expertise but with all the very highly educated people at BGSU, there should be somebody who could balance a check book, so to say. There would be two suggestions I could give. First, quit building new buildings for awhile and as last resort call Washington and get the phone number of that bank in China. Money in, money out - Bota-bee-bota-bom,
