To the Editor: Latta’s vote displayed a lack of concern for community

Your editorial expressing concern and disagreement with Congressman Latta's vote was accurate and displayed concern for the community as a hold. When young Mr. Latta says his supporters haven't expressed displeasure at his vote, I am sure he is referring to the gentlemen who attended his fund raiser at Toledo's Exclusive Inverness Golf Club.  Since TV, radio, and newspaper reporters weren't allowed to report whom was in attendance. Their names aren't in any public records showing campaign donations to Mr. Latta. It is logical to believe that these individuals are not from Wood County, otherwise a golf outing at a local course to show popular support from the folks back home would have been appropriate.
Mr. Latta's behavior should come as no surprise to observers of his career over the years. Coming from a political family he has felt ordained to be Wood County's Congressman.  While his constituents ponder over how they will be financially secure, young Mr. Latta is secure in the knowledge he will receive a State Retirement for County Commissioner, Legislator and of course his Congressional Retirement with benefits. Mr. Latta professes that government programs do not give us security in our senior years, while you worry about Social Security, lost fortunes in 401K's (2008) and Medicare Health Coverage. He says that you shouldn't count on entitlements, programs you put money into, because the funds aren't there. Amazing isn't it.  Congressman Latta can't find enough of your money to pay your Social Security and Medicare. Yet he and his fellow Conservatives can find enough of your Social Security Savings to pay theirs.  He doesn't say that he is as culpable in the dereliction of his fiduciary responsibilities as his fellow congressmen. Why should he? He has a secure retirement and salary for life.
Why is a person in a Temp Job, Congress, receiving full benefits when a mother at working Wal-Mart doesn't receive any? Both are Temp jobs, only one receives benefits. The person who can afford benefits gets them for free and denies them to the mother who needs them.
