|To the Editor: Hopes City of BG will turn new green space into common space|

I was sitting at the traffic light at Church Street and Wooster heading north on Church the other day. While looking out at the green space where the junior high used to be, it struck me that the area looks a lot like Salem Common, in Salem, Massachusetts.
The view of historical houses in the area now is great.
How good would it be if the city decided to turn that area into a common space?
A gazebo, some sidewalks, some benches and you would have a real good place for outdoor concerts in good weather and other events throughout the year.
Or people shopping downtown could just sit and have coffee or ice cream and people watch.
I hope the city considers this idea as they plan for the future of the land.
