It is time for Jill Engle to be removed from the office of Wood County Treasurer. I have owned my own manufactured home since 2000 when I was just 20 years old. Every year my property taxes where paid on time without fail until this year. This was the first year I was unable to pay my property taxes on time due to my wife's loss of a job, and I was down to working only through a temporary agency. I reached out to Jill to tell her I could not pay my property taxes in full and asked her what my other payment options would be. I even offered to work in her office part time to help pay off my taxes for this year.
This was completely ignored by her and the only response I got was that she was going to take me to court for non-payment of my taxes. I again reached out to her asking what payment options where available to me. This time I finally got a response from her saying that "If I show a continued payment attempt the judgment would not be necessary." So I started making weekly payments without fail only for her to file a judgment against me anyway.
So in short Jill Engle must be replaced as Wood County treasurer. Her word means nothing; she'll tell you one thing then do another. But most importantly she doesn't care about hard-working middle class families. She should be there to help you when you're struggling. Not offer to help you then stab you in the back while you are doing what she asked you to do.
