On behalf of the Grand Rapids Arts Council, we would like to publicly thank all who attended our Sunset Jazz and Art Festival on Aug. 18th. We hope you had as much fun attending the fest as we did presenting it. We express our gratitude to Georgeanne Kohn from The Optical Shop in Toledo, who is our presenting sponsor; Suzanne Carroll from The Jazz Brunch on 101.5 The River, who was a marvelous emcee again this year; Tim Tiderman, our musical director who lined up the whole afternoon and evening of talented musicians, and our dear friend Julie Pontasch who took a dream she had and turned it into this fabulous day nine years ago. Special thanks to all our volunteers; without you, we could not continue this wonderful event.
This year, we also want to express our appreciation to the Village of Grand Rapids - Mayor Bunkie Obermyer, Village Administrator Chad Hoffman, Village Council members, and village employees - for working hard and presenting our village in the best light. Everything was polished, scrubbed, and trimmed. Many attendees commented on the lovely venue. Please join us in August of 2014 for the celebration of our 10th Annual Sunset Jazz and Art Festival. Check grandrapidsartscouncil.org, for more information.
