We write this in awe of this Bowling Green/Wood County community (and many out-of-towners) as we reflect on the love, encouragement, awesome donations for the silent auctions, financial contributions, prayers, and other support we received from the fundraiser on Oct. 19 for our family. We are overwhelmed!
As the article in the Sentinel stated, we have been joyfully involved in many activities in this community since 1984. I enjoyed many years coaching baseball at Carter Park, helping coach flag football, and even traveling almost every weekend one summer throughout Ohio with a travel basketball team with players and fantastic parents from throughout Wood County.
The article didn't mention that after teaching at two schools in Michigan and being laid-off because the levies didn't pass, then teaching two years at Howe Military School in Indiana, I had three teaching offers in 1984: One in northern Michigan, one in Florida, and one in Bowling Green. We have been blessed many times because we chose Bowling Green. It has proven often to have been the right choice!
When I retired from teaching in June of 2009, I began working at a wonderful company in BG, Century Marketing, in October of that same year. The administration and many employees have just been incredible through this whole process of Cancer Center trips to Toledo, hospital trips to Ann Arbor, and many other issues associated with this cancer journey.
I would be remiss in not giving them a special thank you!
We were so pleased before the benefit when it looked like about 150 people would be attending. It actually ended up being over 250, and many more sent cards, etc. - incredible!
We can't possibly thank all of you enough, but please know that everything and everybody are greatly appreciated! God bless you!
