|To the Editor: DeMare: Democracy alive and well in BG|

I'm writing this letter on the Saturday before the election, and I just wanted to say "Thank You" to the people of Bowling Green. For months now, my volunteers and I have been knocking on thousands of doors all over the City. I have found the people of Bowling Green to be very respectful, thoughtful, and civic minded. I work full time, so I had to do much of my canvassing during the dinner hours. Even so, almost no one cut me off or was rude to me. Almost everyone took the time to listen to what I had to say. Over a hundred people attended the League of Women Voters candidate forum. People here take their vote seriously.
Of course, I would like to win on Tuesday. But, win or lose, I feel privileged to live in a community where the spirit of Democracy is still alive and well.
