On behalf of the Wood County Fire and EMS Chief's Association we would like to thank the Wood County Commissioners, Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn and staff, EMA Director Brad Gilbert and staff, President Mel Amos and the Wood County Firefighter's Association and our own communications committee lead by Troy Township EMS Chief Michael Richardson.
With the recent upgrade to the County's Fire and EMS Communication System, a long uphill climb has been reached. The old system had many flaws that the County Fire and EMS Services have been trying to correct for more years than we can remember.
It is a known fact that many of the local fire departments are short of staff during the week days and an automatic mutual aid system has been adopted for many of these agencies. The new system that went online July 1st allows for better communications between multi-agencies in the event of an emergency and also gives us the ability to switch to different radio channels for large scale emergencies within the county.
Better communication allows us to do our job more efficiently. Our number 1 goal has always been to protect the citizens and visitors of Wood County.
