To the Editor: Council urged to name Hollenbaugh

As residents of First Ward, my husband and I were excited to find out in February our neighbor, Mark Hollenbaugh, was running for city council. We are confident he will make thoughtful and informed decisions. Like many, we have been troubled by the news and are concerned about the city's budget shortages. There has been talk of tax increase and cuts in service, which show these problems have not yet been solved. We believe council should appoint the person best qualified to address the problems the city is facing. Council should weigh the merits of the individuals being considered and not what party has endorsed them. We urge council to set aside party politics and give First Ward a thoughtful councilman grounded in the community.
