City Council member Greg Robinette has resigned Bowling Green City Council because he was deployed for active duty in Kuwait.  He was on a leave of absence from council for several meetings so we are eager to fill the position.  Last week, the Sentinel-Tribune reported that City Council expects to fill Mr. Robinette's vacant Fourth Ward seat at the next meeting on July 1st. The process for expressing interest in his council seat is to submit an e-mail to Clerk of Council Kay Scherreik at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or by sending her a brief statement by mail at the City Administrative Services Building, 304 N. Church Street. The deadline for submitting interest is noon on Friday June 28th.
All citizens expressing interest will be considered and the qualifications are that applicants be at least 18 years old and reside in the Fourth Ward. Applicants who meet criteria will be asked to briefly address council and answer questions at the meeting on the 1st at 7:00pm. Council plans to vote after these presentations and the successful candidate may join council as early as the second meeting in July (7/15). The newly elected council member will then serve the rest of Mr. Robinette's term which runs through the remainder of 2013. This is an exciting time to serve on council as there are a lot of interesting and important issues that will be discussed in the coming months including establishing the 2014 budget. I hope that all qualified candidates will submit their statement of interest and address us on July 1st. Please feel to contact me to discuss this process at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or at 419-378-1952.
