To the Editor: Anti-fracking ordinance won’t protect BG

The red herring Anti-Fracking City Ordinance is powerless. And city officials know it.
Vote for the more powerful Charter Amendment.
Now.
The gas industry is leasing Wood County oil and gas rights near the city. Two forced-injection wells are already operating in Wood County, just south of Bowling Green. Drilling has already started in Lucas County, within the city limits of Berkey, Ohio, a city with no charter protection.
Voters don't respond well to the scare tactics and cloak and dagger shenanigans by our city officials. Behind the scenes meetings with oil & gas representatives; secret "executive sessions"; erroneous utility rate threats; an out-of-town law firm hired to [unsuccessfully] keep the Charter Amendment off the ballot; a powerless city ordinance; and now a Coalition To Defeat The Amendment?
Why all the fuss? We will read the Charter Amendment and vote for or against it.
