When I retired from coaching years ago, the good people of Bowling Green created a scholarship that would go to a member of the men's or women's basketball team to help pay their cost for an education. Over the years I had received a thank you letter from everyone of Dan Dakich's players, none from any of Jim Larranaga's players and none from any of the present coaches players, I am sorry I don't even know his name. But everyone member of the women's team sent a hand written thank you letter every year.
But the letter I got this year was special. It was sincere and well written. The author Alexis Rogers. All of us in Bowling Green can be proud we are producing people like Alexis. She is and will be a success now and in life.
Following is the letter sent to Weinert:
Mr. John Weinert,
Thank you so much for your contributions to the Falcon Family. I would like to thank you for the time and energy you put into the Falcon program. You have helped it become a program that I am proud to say I am a part of. Education is important to me and you have helped me to further my education with your generous donations. I am honored to be a member of such a caring and supportive community. I can't wait to get back to training so that the women's basketball team can continue to grow and improve for next season. I hope you are as excited as I am! I hope to see you at games or other functions! Thank you for all you do and all your support!!
