I would like to set the record straight about the Otsego Transportation Department. While what happened to my child was wrong, this shouldn't reflect harshly on the entire department.
I personally know most of these professional drivers. They are doing the best job that they can do. These men and women have a great responsibility and they do not take it lightly. Some of our drivers are in charge of nearly 80 students at a time. This does not include the fact that they are also driving a bus at the same time. As well, this does not include our drivers who transport the special needs students. Otsego bus drivers are responsible for a $80,000 bus along with all the students at the same time. Most teachers have only 25 or so students under their responsibility at a time.
While we haven't not received any answers from the administration concerning this matter, please stop putting all of our drivers in a bad light. They do the best job they can do!
I speak from experience. I have sat in the same seat as they do. They have a great responsibility and they handle that responsibility well. If given a another chance, I would gladly work with them again.
