We, the undersigned, are running for the four open council seats in the Village of Haskins.
The candidates have recently been informed by mail, from a current council member and candidiate that there will be a debate for those running for council. There was also an ad in the Sentinel asking residents to send questions for the debate to him.
When inquired about the details of the debate, information was stated that the moderator would be a currrent member of council, these questions will then be decided by the moderator, of which ones to be asked, and if there is time at the end, it maybe possible for residents to ask questions.
We feel that this is a poorly planned and unfair way to have this debate run. Therefore, we will not be a part of this debate and instead have chosen to have a "Meet the Candidates Night" at Herbies in Haskins on Nov. 2nd from 7:30 to 9 p.m. for residents to speak to the candidates one on one.
We hope the voters will strongly consider voting for us for the open council seats. We feel that there is a great need to replace the current open council seats with new members that will bring a breath of fresh air and will be the voice of the community.
New ideas and the best interest of the village at heart. Voted for the people by the people.
