We want to take this opportunity to send out a great big "thank you" for the donations that have been coming in on behalf of the BG Christian Food Pantry over the last several months. We are truly blessed by your generosity and once again, we have food to keep helping the many people who come to us for help.
We have seen more families struggling to meet needs and put food on the table. The generosity of the caring BG community has shown that you, too, care enough to reach out with a helping hand when needed.
Donations have come in from clubs, churches, schools, individuals, businesses and even a wedding reception!
To the Editor: Hospital neighbor wants input on expansion plans

As a neighbor of the Wood County Hospital, I would like to make sure the rest of the hospital's neighbors understand the ramifications of the proposed zoning change from S-3 Planned Institutional to I-1. The main effect is that it removes the requirement for public comment on any proposed hospital expansions. This means that the neighbors would have no ability to make comment to the planning commission or council about hospital plans that will influence their quality of life and property values. It looks to me as if the current hospital administration simply wants to remove its pesky neighbors from the process.
The problem is that the hospital is the oddity here. It is one institution in the middle of a residential area, and as such, it should be subject to at least a little extra scrutiny. There are many quality of life and property value issues that hospital expansion can and does affect.

Our bird streets area has some senior citizens and people with disabilities, who have a hard time in the winter especially in this snow and subzero temperatures.
But we have good-hearted neighbors. They always feel the need, and they always come and clean the sidewalks and driveways. These angels are Joe Tracy, Tim Hammersmith and Doug Capelle. Many thanks for every one of them, for the wonderful work they do for their neighbors.

To the Editor: BG woman critical of care at Wood County Hospital

On Dec. 20 at 1:30 in the afternoon, I suffered a series of epileptic seizures. The ambulance was called but en route managed to not get the IV in the vein which collapsed the vein. At the hospital, I was convulsing for four hours and all they did was not admit me, but let me lie and then send me home unresolved.
Is this what we can expect of health care in Wood County? I have insurance. I am fed up with an inept, nincompoop and incompetent medical system in Wood County?
One solution would be to go back to the way we used to have our doctors do our doctoring. Forget the fancy gadgets, have them use their five senses to diagnose us. Also, really understand why there is medical illness, don't push us around like we're nobodies.
