LORAIN, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say three workers have been taken to a hospital following an explosion at
a steel plant in northeast Ohio.
The explosion at the Republic Steel plant in Lorain, west of Cleveland, occurred about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

A fire department dispatcher said three people were hurt but could not provide further details. A Lorain
County ambulance services official said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Republic Steel in April agreed to pay a $2.4 million fine for safety and health violations at four
plants, including the one in Lorain, brought by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
