MARIETTA, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol says a driver hauling milk lost control of his truck in far southeast Ohio and struck several trees in a crash that killed the man and his passenger.

The crash happened early Thursday morning on state Route 7 near Marietta. State troopers say the truck veered into the median and then back across the roadway, where it hit the guardrail and several trees and landed on its side.

The driver was identified as 40-year-old Dwight Knapp of Marietta. The patrol said his passenger was 20-year-old Chyennea Jo Uppole of nearby Vincent, Ohio.

Both died at the scene. The patrol says they were not wearing seat belts.
