SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A grand jury has indicted a
17-year-old Ohio boy in the April shooting of a standout high school
football player.
The teen is charged with murder in the Easter morning slaying of 17-year-old Jeff Wellington at a
Springfield apartment complex.
The
suspect was captured after a search that stretched for more than two
weeks after the April 20 incident. A judge on May 29 ruled the boy can
be tried as an adult and his case could be presented to a grand jury.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1q3in5I )
reports that he was indicted by the Clark County grand jury Monday.
At
a probable cause hearing, three witnesses testified that they were in
the parking lot of the apartment complex and saw the suspect pull the
trigger.
