KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) — A California-based technology consulting
company plans to expand its existing operations in Kokomo and Carmel,
creating 400 new jobs by 2017, the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
announced Monday.
Systems in Motion LLC plans to hire about 240
new workers in Kokomo and 160 in nearby Carmel, the IEDC said. The
Newark, California-based company plans to lease up to 25,000 square feet
of space in downtown Kokomo’s historic Firestone Building and expand
its Carmel site by 15,000 square feet.
Systems in Motion, which
acquired Indiana-based Zuna Infotech earlier this year, said it will
invest $5.4 million in its new office space. The expansions are expected
to be completed by December 2016.
The company plans to begin
hiring next month for additional software development and testing and
support positions in Indiana, the IEDC said.
The IEDC offered
Systems in Motion up to $5.65 million in conditional tax credits and up
to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation
plans. The city of Kokomo also approved local incentives.
Gov.
Mike Pence issued a statement saying "Indiana’s tech sector continues to
grow because companies like Systems in Motion recognize Indiana as a
state that works."
Founded in 2009, Systems in Motion provides
services such as application development and management, business
analytics and testing services to clients in the financial services,
retail, life sciences, entertainment, mobility and hospitality sectors.
It also has operations in Minneapolis, St. Louis and Ann Arbor and
Lansing, Michigan.
