SW Michigan woman saves birds from home without power

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — A Kalamazoo woman spent ChristmasDay rescuing tropical parrots from a
mid-Michigan home and breedingfacility that lost power during last weekend’s ice storm.The Kalamazoo Gazette
reports (http://bit.ly/JhdJOP ) Thursday that bird
rescuer Theresa Barylak has transported about 20parrots to her operation known as Avian Haven. The Lansing
home andbreeding facility owned by Michelle and Carey Feazel had lost power, andtwo birds died of exposure
to the cold.Barylak says she hopesthe birds will survive and seeks volunteers and cleaning supplies as
