Storm-tossed Purdue weather balloon found in Ohio

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — A group of Purdue Universitystudents whose camera-equipped weather
balloon vanished during theMidwest’s recent tornado outbreak has got their balloon back along withsome
amazing footage thanks to an Ohio farmer.Purdue technologyand engineering students launched the
high-altitude balloon the daybefore Nov. 17’s deadly tornado outbreak. But howling jet stream windsswept it
eastward and it crashed in a northwestern Ohio field near thetown of Kalida.The storm-tossed balloon also
lost its Purduecontact information. But the farmer who found it geared up its cameraand saw footage of the
students who launched it sporting Purduesweatshirts.The farmer was able to track down the students, whogot
their balloon back Monday night along with footage looking down onmenacing clouds during the tornado
