JACKSON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have found the 6-year-old girl who had vanished from the front porch of her southern Ohio home.
The mayor of Jackson says Macey Stewart was found Friday afternoon about six miles away from her home. He says a woman who recognized Stewart from a picture called authorities after the girl approached her house.
Police in Jackson say a teenager was caring for Stewart when she disappeared early Friday. WBNS-TV in Columbus (http://bit.ly/148uEwv ) reports the teen told police a man stopped at the house and asked to borrow a phone, and the teen went inside to grab a cellphone. The teen said when he returned to the porch, the girl and the man were gone.
Police had searched for Stewart by land and air and had issued a statewide alert.
