ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Campus police have found no evidence of a shooting at Ohio University after a report
of a possible threat.
The university’s president says police dispatch received a call Tuesday afternoon about a shooting at
Gamertsfelder Hall, which houses summer session students. Authorities later expanded their search
throughout the school’s East Green. Both were later given the “all clear.”
School President Roderick McDavis said in a statement that there’s no threat to the safety of the
university or Athens community. He says an investigation into the incident is continuing.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Athens police assisted in what city Police Chief Thomas Pyle called “an
alleged shooting.” A Highway Patrol spokesman says troopers were sent after school police requested
help.
The campus is about 65 miles southeast of Columbus.
