Ohioan gets jail for drunken driving in school bus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio woman accused of
drunken driving on a school bus with two young students aboard is
serving five days in jail.
Former Columbus bus driver Tia Denton
had pleaded guilty to single misdemeanor charges of drunken driving and
endangering children. A judge on Tuesday sentenced the 51-year-old
Denton to 180 days in jail on each count and suspended all but five
days.
Authorities say Denton was driving erratically and had a
blood alcohol content that was more than twice the legal limit when she
was stopped while driving a bus in November. Denton later resigned.
Denton’s
attorney previously said she would enter an alcohol treatment program.
Attorney Eric Nordman didn’t immediately respond to a message seeking
comment Tuesday.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Denton started serving her sentence Tuesday.
