SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — A 19-year-old man suspected of stabbing an 11-week-old baby to death with a kitchen knife is being held in a northern Ohio jail on bond of more than $1 million.

The court entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of Denzel Castile at his arraignment Monday in Sandusky Municipal Court. The charges against him include aggravated murder and felonious assault.

Police said the Sandusky man wrestled the baby away from relatives and stabbed her last week. The child, Athena Castile, died at a hospital hours after the attack.

Investigators have said Castile is the little girl's cousin, but they were not sure what led to the stabbing.

The teen was represented in court Monday by a public defender. A message seeking comment was left with the public defender's office.
