PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol isfocusing on speed and distances between
vehicles as troopers investigatewhat led to a pileup this week in northeast Ohio.Staff Lt. Jim Sivak of the
patrol tells The Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/Kan2B6
) that the investigation will not be finished until next week.Thirty-onevehicles were believed to be
involved in Tuesday’s pileup on eastboundlanes of Interstate 90. Dozens of vehicles collided during snow
squallseast of Cleveland.Sivak says based on drivers’ statements, nothing in the patrol’s review shows that
construction barriers are notto blame for the pileup.A state trooper had previously confirmedto the
newspaper that the barriers gave drivers little room to maneuverto avoid crashing. The state’s transportation
department says workers plan to remove the barriers this winter.___Information from: The Plain Dealer, http://www.cleveland.comCopyright 2013 The Associated
