Ohio patrol: no serious injuries in plane crash

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — A State Highway Patrol trooper says there were no serious injuries when a single-engine airplane crashed in a field in western Ohio. .

Trooper A.R. Rea  says the pilot and his lone passenger were able to walk away from the crash Saturday afternoon. Rea says the plane crashed about 2 p.m. in a field just south of the Bellefontaine Municipal Airport.

Rea says pilot was practicing a touch-and-go landing technique when there was some damage to the plane and he was forced to make an emergency landing just past the runway.

Troopers from the patrol's Marysville Post investigated the crash. Rea says the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to begin its investigation at the scene on Monday.
