CINCINNATI (AP) — An Ohio lawmaker accused of misleading
investors about a company’s financial status and using their money for
personal gain was in court again Thursday.
At a short hearing in Hamilton County court, Judge John Andrew West set a July 28 hearing for Rep. Pete
Beck of Mason.
Beck’s trial is set for Nov. 17.
The
61-year-old Beck, who was indicted in July, is accused of being part of
an enterprise that misled investors, laundered money and improperly
diverted investors’ money.
Beck has pleaded not guilty to the charges and denies involvement.
Beck lost his bid for re-election in the May 6 primary.
John
Fussner, a former business partner, has agreed to testify against Beck
as part of a plea agreement he reached with prosecutors.
