Ohio good Samaritan cleared of traffic charge

CLEVELAND (AP) — A crowded courtroom in Cleveland broke out
in applause when a judge cleared a woman of a traffic charge she said
came after she stopped her car to help two elderly people.
An
officer ticketed 59-year-old Annam Ighneim for blocking traffic on a
busy road the day before Thanksgiving last year. Ighneim told the
municipal judge Tuesday that she had stopped because a car had stopped
in front of her, then her passenger got out to help an elderly couple
who were struggling to get into the car ahead.
The officer said he didn’t see another car stopped in front Ighneim’s car, and cited her for blocking
traffic.
WJW-TV (http://bit.ly/MKtaAK ) reports that the
judge had reasonable doubt that Ighneim impeded traffic and threw out the misdemeanor charge.
