ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — A city council in southeastern Ohio isthe second public body to oppose a
proposed shale gas-drilling injectionwell in the region.Citing public health concerns, the AthensCity
Council voted to support the county commission’s objection to theproposed well for hydraulic-fracturing —
also known as fracking — inTroy Township southeast of the city.The Athens Messenger (http://bit.ly/18Cywbq ) reports that county
commissioners sent a letter in September to thestate asking for a public hearing on the application by
K&HPartners. The letter called it a "highly deficient application that willnot prevent
pollution of land, surface water and drinking watersources."The city council voted unanimously Monday
night to support the commissioners’ objection.The state says there is no evidence the proposed well would be
