COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s attorney general has awarded $1
million in new grant funding to 25 rape crisis centers across the
state.
Attorney General Mike DeWine says 23 agencies will each
receive a grant of more than $36,000 to help survivors of sexual
assault.
A statement from DeWine says the grants mark the first
use of Ohio’s new Rape Crisis Program Trust Fund. He says the agencies
meet the services defined by Ohio’s core standards for rape crisis
programs.
Some agencies receiving the grants include Women Helping
Women in Cincinnati, the YWCA of Northwest Ohio in Toledo and the
Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.
DeWine says a statewide training
grant of $95,000 was awarded to the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual
Violence. The agency in Cleveland is a federally recognized statewide
sexual assault coalition.
