NEWTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Officials say a giraffe stepped on an employee of Binder Park Zoo who had fallen down while working with the animal.

TV stations WOOD and WWMT report the woman was putting the giraffes indoors on Monday when she lost her footing and fell. Officials say the giraffe then stepped on the woman at the zoo in Calhoun County's Newton Township, near Battle Creek.

Officials say the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that weren't believed to be serious.

The zoo says it plans to review its procedures following the injury, but it appears the giraffe accidentally stepped on the woman.
