No charge in Ohio crash that killed six

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Prosecutors say no charges will be
filed against a central Ohio police officer whose cruiser slammed into a
car in an intersection, killing six members of a family.
Franklin
County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien says that dash-cam video shows Upper
Arlington Officer Shawn Paynter’s car drove into an intersection in
suburban Columbus on a yellow light on the way to an emergency call on
Oct. 18. A car driven by a Columbus man already had entered the
intersection on a red light and stopped in the middle.
The subsequent crash killed the driver, his wife and four of their daughters.
O’Brien
says in a letter to Perry Township’s police chief, a copy of which was
obtained by The Associated Press, that there is no basis for criminal or
traffic charges in the case.
