COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State University has announced that Limited Brands founder and longtime university supporter Leslie Wexner is stepping down from the board of trustees.

Wexner, a 1959 Ohio State graduate, has donated more than $200 million to the university and helped raise hundreds of millions more.

The university in February named its medical center for the billionaire Wexner a year after he donated $100 million to the center, one of the largest such gifts to a public university.

The 74-year-old Wexner served a total of 18 years as trustee, five as chairman.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) appointed former trustee Alex Shumate to serve the remainder of Wexner's term, which ends in 2020.

Trustees approve major spending and with the input of the university president shape Ohio State's programs and policies.
