COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A new poll shows Ohio Gov. John Kasich widening his lead over Democratic challenger
Ed FitzGerald with about six months to go before the election.
The poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University in Connecticut shows the Republican Kasich is ahead
of FitzGerald 50 percent to 35 percent.
The same poll in February had Kasich leading by a 43-to-38 percent margin.
The May 7-12 survey notes that many Ohioans still don’t know much about FitzGerald, the Cuyahoga County
executive. The survey said 63 percent of voters don’t know enough about FitzGerald to form an opinion of
him.
Fifty-six percent of Ohioans questioned approve of the job Kasich is doing.
The survey of 1,174 Ohio voters has a margin of error of just under 3 percentage points.
