TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police patrolling the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza in Terre Haute arrested fewer people for drunken driving this year but more people overall.

Sgt. Joe Watts says troopers arrested 13 people for drunken driving at the event Friday and Saturday. That's down from 27 last year.

He says they made 47 criminal arrests were for miscellaneous drug and alcohol violations and persons wanted on warrants, compared with 23 a year ago.

Indiana State Excise Police say they arrested 254 people, including 105 for underage possession or consumption of alcohol. That was up from 148 total excise arrests last year.
