Hundreds of thousands still without power in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of Michigan homes and businesses remain without power
following a weekend ice storm.The wintry blast knocked out electrical service to at about 435,000 customers
across the state.Michigan’slargest utilities say it will be days before most of those blacked outget their
power back because of the difficulty of working aroundice-broken lines.Consumers Energy says 262,000 of its
powercustomers were affected, and 201,000 remained off line early Monday. DTEEnergy says work is underway to
restore service to 83,000 blacked-outcustomers out of about 138,000 affected since the storms hit.The
Lansing State Journal says 34,800 customers of the city’s power company lost service as of Sunday
