DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Greenfield Village in Dearborn is preparing to open as it does each spring, but this season comes with special events and programs to mark the 150th birthday of its famous founder.
The village opens Monday and plans programming in honor of Henry Ford's milestone birthday. Visitors can go inside Miller School and experience Ford's informal education and tinker with the same kinds of clock parts and machines he did as a child.
Greenfield Village is part of The Henry Ford history attraction that includes Henry Ford Museum.
The Henry Ford opened in 1929 and was formally dedicated by Ford with his friend and mentor, Thomas Edison. Greenfield Village features many historic structures, including Ford's childhood home, the workshop where he built his first motorized vehicle and Edison's Menlo Park laboratory.
