Go-kart driver, 43, killed on SW Michigan roadway

CHESHIRE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 43-year-old man was killed when a vehicle struck the go-kart he was driving on a southwestern Michigan roadway.

The Allegan County sheriff's office says Junior Lee Smith died in the crash that happened around 1 a.m. Saturday in Cheshire Township.

According to a witness, Smith was driving the go-kart in the darkness without headlights or taillights.

The sheriff's department says no charges are being sought against the 28-year-old Allegan man who was driving the vehicle that struck Smith's go-kart.
