DETROIT (AP) — Plans have been announced to transform the
old Detroit Fire Department headquarters into a 100-room upscale hotel.
Aparium
Hotel Group said Wednesday it’s undertaking a $28 million project to
turn the 1929 fire building into The Foundation Hotel. It’s scheduled to
open late next year.
According to Aparium, the hotel will include a ground-floor restaurant in the former fire engine hall.

The
property sits across the street from Cobo Center, a downtown convention
hall that hosts the annual North American International Auto Show and
other events.
Aparium CEO Mario Tricoci says his Chicago-based company "is honored to play a role in the important
resurgence of Detroit."
