Fed-up Indiana dad has police destroy son's air guns

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) — A father fed up with his son's threatening actions with realistic BB guns has had police destroy the 11-weapon collection.

Columbus Police Lt. Matt Myers told The Republic for a story Thursday (http://bit.ly/16ksGJ8 ) the man took the step after a motorist complained the 14-year-old was pointing a gun at passing vehicles Monday.

Myers says the boy's response to officers was nonchalant, but when they escorted him home to talk to his parents, the father told them to take the low-velocity air guns away.

Myers says the boy took what appeared to be a high-powered rifle to his elementary school last year, prompting a lockdown as a security precaution, Myers said.
